December Jobs Fair invite to learn about Valero CHP project

Pembroke, 19 November 2018 - Jobseekers are being invited to an event in Pembroke Dock to learn about Valero's Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Cogeneration Unit project at Pembroke Refinery.

Valero are hosting the jobs fair in Pembroke Dock on Wednesday 12th December in conjunction with the project's Principle Managing Contractor, Fluor Limited. Representatives from Valero and Fluor will be on hand to explain more about the project and outline some of the job opportunities for local people during the construction phase of the project, and attendees will be able to learn more about how they can register their interest for particular roles.

A range of careers and skills organisations will also be present to offer advice and support for those interested in jobs in the energy sector, including the Danny Fellows Trust, ECITB, Communities for Work Plus, Workways +, Providence Training, Pembrokeshire College, Job Centre Plus, Careers Wales and the Regional Learning & Skills Partnership for South West & Mid Wales.

Valero's £127 million project for a 45 megawatt unit will provide power for the refinery, as well as supplement the refinery's steam demand, and has been the first project to receive planning permission as a Development of National Significance process under the Planning (Wales) Act 2015.

Refinery Public Affairs Manager Stephen Thornton, said, "The CHP Unit project is a major investment in the Pembrokeshire economy and during the construction phase we will be looking to fill a limited number of positions. This jobs fair will enable interested jobseekers to learn more about the project and the types of roles available - from civil and structural engineering to electrical and office-based jobs."

The event will take place on Wednesday 12th December in the Bridge Innovation Centre, Pembroke Dock between 9:00am and 12:00pm.
